Stem Cell Therapy
WHAT EXACTLY IS STEM CELL THERAPY?
It all comes down to a science. Our bodies are filled with an inherent potential to heal themselves. The role of white blood Cells in our blood is to fight infections, the role of platelets is to help us clot, and the role of stem cells is to regenerate and repair. Our bodies repair itself constantly with the use of Stem Cells. We get a whole new blood supply every 120 days or so. Our liver regenerates fully every 3-4 months. We regenerate an entirely new skin every 27 days or so. All of this is possible due to the function of Stem Cells in our bodies. The main function of stem cells is to maintain and repair tissue. Stem cell therapy enhances this natural function by isolating a large number of highly active stem cells which are directed to an area of need within the body.
HOW DOES STEM CELL THERAPY WORK?
It is an outpatient procedure, in which we harvest and isolate a patient’s own stem cells from their adipose (fat) tissue and or bone marrow tissue. Patients receive a fat harvesting procedure under local anesthetic or a bone marrow aspirate. After harvesting of cells, tissue will undergo enzymatic process followed by a centrifugation process allowing the stem cells to be released. Immediately after processing, stem cells are delivered back to the same patient. The cells may be delivered as a joint injection, intravenously, subcutaneously or intramuscularly.
The procedure takes anywhere between 1.5-3.5 hours depending on the type of stem cell harvesting that we do.
WHICH CONDITIONS CAN BE TREATED WITH STEM CELL THERAPY?
It is such a promising new therapy with an infinite healing potential so we do not recommend looking at the list and deciding whether it is an option for you. The treatments can be customized and there is so much that we can offer! Below is a rough starting point for people wondering if this is something they can benefit from.
- Most Autoimmune Conditions
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Crohn's's Disease
- Ulcerative Colitis
- Anti Aging therapy
- Most orthopedic conditions – this may be a difference between having a surgery or not for that full knee replacement
- Aesthetics – skin rejuvenation
HOW FAST DO PATIENTS EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS?
It depends. Like everything else response is largely patient to patient dependent, and depends on a multitude of factors, such as: age, baseline health, diet and lifestyle, severity of an underlying condition, etc. It is important to note that we are treating patients with their own adult stem cells, therefore each treatment and response is unique to that patient. As with any medical treatment, it is impossible to predict precisely what results will be achieved or how soon results can be realized. However, many patients report that they begin to experience results within 4 to 8 weeks. In cases where the condition being treated is more severe, the patient may notice results over a longer time frame, and in some cases may extend to a 6-9 month time frame. It’s not unusual for incremental benefits to extend up to 12 months after initial treatment. Many conditions may require successive treatments depending upon the condition, severity and clinical response; each patient is treated individually with a customized treatment plan.
DOES HEALTH INSURANCE COVER THE COST OF THE TREATMENT?
No, health insurance in the U.S. does not currently cover costs associated with any Stem Cell procedure.
WHAT IS THE COST?
The cost of autologous stem cell therapy will vary with different types of procedures.
However, pricing is designed to be both fair and competitive with those few providers offering highest quality, state-of-the-art autologous stem cell therapy.
ARE THERE PAYMENT OPTIONS AVAILABLE?
Yes, there are several different options. Our financial coordinator will sit down with you and discuss all payment options prior to procedure.
SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT ANY ETHICAL ISSUES?
No. Our Stem Cell procedures use a patient’s own stem cells derived from his or her own fat or bone marrow tissue. We do not perform any procedures or undertake any research using embryonic stem cells.
IS IT SAFE?
Yes. It’s extremely safe and has a superb safety profile. The most common side effect occurs about 3% of the time and is limited to pain or swelling at the injection site.
